Project Introduction
The film is titled "Central" and intends to explore the paradox of two kinds of "centers": on the one hand, the city is a geographical hub, a convergence of economy and power, dazzling with lights and constantly bustling; on the other hand, each individual is self-centered, experiencing an inescapable sense of alienation amid the prosperity. Modern development can improve our living standards while also reshaping our perception. Amid steel and concrete cities and brightly lit skyscrapers, the desires deep within human hearts are amplified, and a simpler, more honest form of interpersonal relationship is disappearing. Everyone wants to be the "center" of society, without realizing that we are gradually moving away from each other's "center".
The film is composed of more than a dozen carefully arranged shots, using montage techniques to reconstruct urban space visually. It employs a moist and deep visual tone to create a beautiful yet slightly detached atmosphere, deconstructing the city into overlapping moments of light and shadow, water stains, traffic lights, and solitary individuals. This symbolizes the complex state in which people are both intimate and alienated, and it is also a multiple-layered inquiry into the concept of the "center".
